Lord God, your care for us surpasses even a mother’s tender love. Through this word and sacrament renew our trust in your provident care, that we may abandon all anxiety and seek first your kingdom. We make our prayer through our Lord Jesus Christ, your son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever.

 The people of Libya amidst the scenes of violence and political change
 The people of Christchurch, New Zealand and the surrounding area coping with the devastation caused by the earthquake there
 Christian ministry training courses and colleges, and for all who give their lives to the service of the Gospel
 Local and regional Health Authorities, Community Health Councils and hospital managers
 Residents of Shortborough Avenue (Princes Risborough), and Turnip End (Speen).

Notices

Ash Wednesday (March 9th) Sung Eucharist at 8 pm
This service will include ‘the imposition of ashes’. Ashes are an ancient sign of penitence and the sign of the cross is made on a person’s forehead if they so wish. Members of St. Mary’s (Princes Risborough) choir and congregation are joining us for this service.

Lent House Groups 2011
‘Rich inheritance’ Jesus’ legacy of love: written by Stephen Cottrell, (Former Bishop of Reading).Bishop Stephen is a popular and prolific writer with the gift of both accessibility and challenge. The 5 week course is offered at a choice of two days and times: Tuesdays from 10.30 – 12.00 at 76 Westmead (Home of Mrs Su Viney and the Bethany House Group) from 15 March – 12 April inclusive; Thursdays from 8.00 – 9.30 at the Rectory, Monks Risborough from 17 March – 14 April inclusive (thus giving an opportunity to ‘catch up’ if you have to miss a session). This ecumenical discussion is the latest from the popular York Courses, covering: An Empty Tomb, A group of People, A Story, A power and A meal. All are welcome and if you would like to be a part of one of these Groups, please contact the Su Viney (275461), Jill Iredale (346488) or The Revd. James Tomkins (275944) by February 28th, so that a booklet (cost £3.00) may be ordered for you.

Annual Church Meetings
These will take place on Friday March 18th at 8 pm. As well as reviewing and reporting on parish life there are a number of elections that take place including the appointment of a new churchwarden to replace Steve Adams. Please come along to contribute your thoughts to life and worship of the parish.

Lighthouse Quiz Sheet
Many thanks to those of you who supported Lighthouse by purchasing a quiz sheet this year. £750 was raised and the winners were Arthur and Marilyn Taylor who received a £25 book token. A copy of the quiz sheet with answers is displayed in the porch.

Risborough Area Forum (RAF)
This is an open forum which meets through which representatives of all groups and societies in the around Princes Risborough exchange ideas and information quarterly at the Community Centre. RAF aims not only to improve communication between members but also to co-ordinate and disseminate non confidential information, promote joint working and partnership approaches and recommend ways to enhance and promote the area. If you are interested in representing the parish (Whiteleaf is already represented) please let James know.

Annual Church Meetings
These will take place on Friday March 18th at 8 pm. As well as reviewing and reporting on parish life there are a number of elections that take place. This year with the retirement of Steve Adams we are looking for a new churchwarden to work with Rosemary Woodward-Court who will continue as the other churchwarden. There are also two vacancies on the PCC, as well as two places on the Deanery Synod that acts as a link between the parishes and the Diocese. If you would like to be considered for any of these positions or would like to know more please let James know.
