Fabric Projects at St. Dunstan’s and St. Peter’s
In the next few months we hope to undertake a number of projects. Prayer of the Week
Creator God, in Christ you call man and woman to the fullness of glory for which you created them in your image. Heal our hearts, renew our obedience to your spoken will, and conform our lives to your gracious design. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever. Amen.

Your prayers are asked this week for:

  • The benefits that technology can bring to the world whilst also praying against those who seek to use the internet to disrupt or damage the lives of others
  • All who suffer from natural disasters, remembering especially the people of Indonesia and for aid to reach quickly all whose lives have been devastated
  • Homeless people in cities, towns and villages; the work of the Whitechapel Mission and other charities that support people who are homeless
  • Those who package and safely contain our foodstuffs that they reach us uncontaminated.
  • Bledlow Cricket Club & Bledlow Reading Group
  • Chestnut Close (MR) Bell Lane & Bell Street (PR)
  • Those who are in need in our parish:
    • Joan Ballance, Pam Johnson, Pam Lidgley
  • And also further afield for:
    • Alastair, Georgina Cole, Ginny Gibbs, Alex Chauhan, Cathy Owen, Gail, Suzy Cooper, Anna Ballard, Janet Drurie
  • The recently departed:
    • Peggy Mitton
  • Those whose anniversary of death falls at this time:
    • Ken Bradshaw, Ivy Davies, John Thomas, Neil Radford, Edith Porter.
Please remember the charities that the parish supports: Christian Aid is an international development charity. We work with people, of all faiths and none, in around 50 countries, to eradicate poverty. www.christianaid.org.uk

‘Pilgrim Course’: an opportunity to explore The Creeds
Over the next few months on a variety of evenings there will be an opportunity to take a fresh look at The Apostles and Nicene Creeds that form part of our worship on a Sundays. The next meeting takes place from 7.30pm to 9.00pm at the Rectory on Thursday October 18th. It’s not compulsory to attend every evening as the course has been designed so that people can ‘dip in and out’ as they please. Please do chat to me if you’re not sure as to whether this might be suitable for you or simply come along on the evening. James

Short break at Sarum College, Salisbury
I have recently spent a weekend here and I noticed they have a variety of day courses exploring faith at a cost of about £60. The courses include ‘stained glass’ where you follow the journey of a stained glass window from inspiration and design through its different processes to installation and ‘Faith in fiction’ that explores the work of various novelists. Full details of the many different courses can be found on http://www.sarum.ac.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/2018-19-Course-and-Events-Brochure.pdf?x52922 The idea would be to drive down together (car sharing), spend a night or two in the college (a unique experience in the Cathedral Close), enjoy Choral Evensong at the cathedral and other attractions the city and the surrounding area has to offer. If you are intersted please me know Rosemary 344417

Dying Matters
Talking about death, dying and funerals raises big questions that it’s helpful to face at some point, but it can be hard to talk to family and friends. On Saturday October 27th and Wednesday October 31st there is an opportunity to come along to a session from 10am to 12 noon at 17 Wellington Avenue, Princes Risborough (home of Revs. Steve and Rose Williams) to think, chat and articulate these questions in a relaxed environment. A series of question cards are used to encourage conversations and to listen to others’ perspectives and experiences in small groups. The sessions are open for people of all faiths, doubts and none. To book a place on one of these sessions please contact Rev James Tomkins jamestomkins@btinternet.com 01844 275944 stating your preferred date.

Fabric Projects at St. Dunstan’s and St. Peter’s
In the next few months we hope to undertake a number of projects. These include the redecoration of the whole church; the conservation of the pulpit; the conservation of the tin arch at St. Peter’s; repairs to the stonework and protecting the path past the church hall to the churchyard. We hope to meet the cost of these projects through existing funds, legacies and previous fund raising activities. Longer term we are looking to create additional toilets at the back of the church hall to cope with the large number of visitors that come to events, funerals, weddings and other services at St. Dunstan’s. James
