Prayer for the week
God most high, your ways are not our ways, for your kindness if lavished equally upon all. Teach us to welcome your mercy towards others, even as we hope to receive mercy ourselves. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever.

Sunday 25th September 2011
The 14th Sunday after Trinity

This Eucharist assures us that the same Jesus who was in the form of God, who humbled himself to death on a cross, and was highly exalted by God, is unchanging and is among us now.

Today
10.00 am Parish Eucharist with the Revd Donald Rydings (Addington Setting)

Hymns: 552, Psalm 25 v 1-8, 70, 16

Second Reading Philippians 2 v 1-13
Paul sets out his statement of belief in the incarnate Christ, whose death in earthly humility is exalted by his heavenly glory.
Gospel Reading Matthew 21 v 23 – 32
The Jewish leaders dispute with Jesus about the source of his authority. He makes no direct answer, but challenges them with the parable of the two brothers working – or failing to work – in their fathers vineyard.

6.00 pm Evensong – Owlswick Harvest Festival with Archdeacon Karen Gorham
Readings: Deuteronomy 8 v 7-18 Luke 12 v 16 - 30
Hymns: 259, Psalm 65, 260, 264, 265

Prayer for the week
O God, you alone judge rightly and search the depths of the heart. Make us swift to do your will and slow to judge our neighbour that we may walk with those who
follow the way of repentance and faith and enter your heavenly kingdom. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever.
