Princes Risborough Baptist Church
Everyone is invited to come to a celebration of their new building and refurbishment project on Saturday May 24th at 3.00 pm. The celebration will include a dramatized presentation of ‘voices from the past; words for today’.

St. Dunstan's Fellowship
Knit-ins” will be in the Church Hall on the 4th Thursday of each month at 2.00pm. The next walk is on Tuesday 27th May – please meet in the layby off the A4010 at 9.15am.

Charity Costume Show
There will be a 1960's charity fashion show at St Mary's Church Hall in aid of The Shaw Trust on Saturday 31st May at 3pm and 7pm.Tickets £10 from Sally's Sewing Box and The Shaw Trust.

Bucks Arts Week Cream Teas
We will be serving cream teas from the church hall from 2.30 - 4.30 on June 14th/15th and June 21st/22nd over the two weekends of Bucks Open Studios. I am looking for two volunteers to help serve, make teas and wash up for each session.  We also need a small number of cakes.  If you are able to bake a cake for either weekend please let me know.

Visit to Worcester Cathedral
This years’ visit to a cathedral city will be on Wednesday June 18th. Full details are in the current newsletter. The coach will leave the lay-by in Monks Risborough at 9:15 am, drop us by the cathedral at about 11.30 am and return to the lay-by in Monks Risborough at approximately 8.30 pm. Please bring a picnic or enjoy the refreshments offered by the cloister café by the cathedral. The cost of the trip is £25 which includes the tour of the cathedral with cheques payable to Monks Risborough PCC. In the beginning…
This is a funny and lively retelling of the Book of Genesis by the Searchlight Theatre Company. The performance will take place at the newly refurbished Baptist Church in Bell Street, Princes Risborough on Thursday July 10th at 7.30pm. Tickets are £7 each (Family ticket £15 for 2 adults & 2 children under 18 from the same family) and available from Pat Kimber by telephoning 01844 273942

4th Deanery Synod Representative
We still have a vacancy for a 4th representative to serve on the Deanery Synod for three years. Deanery synods form a vital link between the local, diocesan and national church. There are three meetings to attend each year together with the PCC meetings held at this church. This position enables you to find out about the wider work of the church and the meetings of the General Synod. Lifts are usually shared to Deanery Synod Meetings. Free Entry to Westminster Abbey
I have again secured a pass that allows up to four people free entry to Westminster Abbey (the normal adult price is £18). If you would like to borrow this pass please let me know. James.

If you wish to pay your collection by standing order then you do not need to be a taxpayer to do so. St. Dunstan’s benefits if money is given this way and forms (the one with a colour picture of St. Dunstan’s on it) can be completed from the table by the south door. James

Today we are thinking about Jesus’ parable of the sheep, the sheepfold and the shepherd.  Let us come together to praise God, the Good Shepherd, who calls us into his fold and nurtures us in the faith of Christ.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, the resurrection and the life, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever. Amen

Christian Aid Week, May 11th – 17th
Princes Risborough Baptist Church will host the Churches Together in Risborough Christian Aid Service tonight at 6pm. House to house collections will be made in as many streets as possible. It is worth noting that nationally these donations raise 75% of all money taken during the week. The usual Friday Lunch, with stalls, will take place at the Princes Risborough Baptist church hall on 16th May, from 12 noon. All funds donated during this week will be sent to Christian Aid Headquarters for distribution.

A morning for Sidespeople and Lesson Readers
On Saturday 17th May, from 10 - 11.30, in church, starting with refreshments, the morning will be a 'thank you,' a learning opportunity and a time for those who are experienced and to encourage those new to the role.  With 'top tips' from David Powell and discussion, all who come are assured of an interesting and helpful time.  We look forward to seeing you. Our Patronal Festival Barbeque will be held on Sunday 18th May 2014 starting at 1230 pm, after the morning service which will start at 1100 am on this day. Tickets are available from Jane or Keith Gibbons (01844 344113) priced at £7=00 for adults and £3=00 for the first child in each family aged between 5 and 16 years old. As always the success of this event depends on your generous donations of salads and desserts. Will anyone who is prepared to donate a salad and/or dessert please sign the list on the porch notice board.

As Christians we live a life of faith, not always understanding why things happen but endeavouring to trust in God’s love for us no matter what we are going through. So, let us come together to worship our loving heavenly Father.

Christ’s tomb had been found empty by a group of women, as well as the disciple Peter, but there were two followers who still did not believe that Christ had risen. They were leaving Jerusalem in despair over the crucifixion of their Lord.

St Mary’s Princes Risborough are hosting a special Gospel Choir Service on Saturday 10th May at 4pm, featuring choir & band members from the Temple of Praise Church, London. This will be a joyful, all-age event and they would be delighted for you to share in this special service.

Visit to Worcester Cathedral
This years’ visit to a cathedral city will be on Wednesday June 18th. Worcester is a beautiful city with the river Severn running through it. There will be a tour of the cathedral at 3.00 pm as well as opportunities to visit some of the many other attractions such as the Worcester Porcelain Museum, The Commandery to learn about the English Civil War, and Greyfriars House and Garden (National Trust). There are also 45 minute trips along the Severn run by Worcester River Cruises and Choral Evensong in the cathedral at 5.30 pm. The coach will leave the lay-by in Monks Risborough at 9:15 am, drop us by the cathedral at about 11.30 am and return to the lay-by in Monks Risborough at approximately 8.30 pm. Please bring a picnic or enjoy the refreshments offered by the cloister café by the cathedral. Stonework start date: June 23rd
The necessary permissions have been received for the repairs to the external and internal stonework to begin on June 23rd. It is anticipated that whilst the work is being carried out that it will be ‘business as usual” in terms of the church’s services and activities. A site meeting will be held later this month after which a further update will be issued with any further information. James
