Small group BIG QUESTIONS
Taking place each Friday and running weekly up to October 12th, EVERYONE is welcome to come along to The Rectory at the top of Mill Lane, Monks Risborough from 10.00 to 11.30 to explore questions of faith and other aspects of Christianity. Come with your doubts, your hopes and your questions. As part of an informal group we aim to answer those questions that we all struggle with from time to time. Each week will start with some refreshments followed by a DVD to stimulate discussion and a time for people to listen, ask questions and share their thoughts. Topics will include ‘Does God heal today’ and ‘what about the Church’. James

Stewardship Initiative
Despite the generosity of individuals in giving their time and money for the work of the church, and the holding of successful fund raising events such as the fete, the church is currently running at a loss. For example it costs about £200 per day to run St. Dunstan’s and St. Peter’s and in 2013 it is expected that at least an extra £20,000 will be required to repair the fabric of St. Dunstan’s and St. Peter’s and to extend the churchyard. A letter was handed/posted out last week explaining the situation in more detail and how you can help. If for any reason you do not receive a letter please accept my apologies and take a spare one from the box on the table towards the back of the church. Can I stress that in all of this there is no need to panic, but that we do need think carefully about the giving of our time, money and skills to ensure that we sustain the vibrant Christian community that exists in the parish. James

Monks Monkeys – Piano/Keyboard Player required
Monks Monkeys meets each Thursday in the church hall during term time from 2.00 to 3.00pm for pre-school age children and their parents/carers. Whilst we can use CDs to sing songs it would be great to have ‘live’ music. We sing a mixture of Christian songs and nursery rhymes e.g. ‘My God is so big’ and ‘the wheels of the bus go round and round!’ If you are interested in helping out (or know of anyone who might) please let James know.

St. Dunstan’s Fellowship
All meetings start at 8.00pm in the Church Hall on the 2nd Thursday of the month unless otherwise stated. Husbands and friends are very welcome to these meetings. “Knit-ins” take place in the church hall on the 4th Thursday of each month starting at 2.00 pm. There is also a series of short walks that take place on the 4th Tuesday of each month starting in the lay-by at 9.15am. For more details please speak with Janet Griffin (274235)

Peter Woodward-Court’s trip to Ghana
In this month’s newsletter there is a summary of Peter’s fascinating and moving visit to Ghana as part of his training to be a doctor. If you would like further information about his trip together with some photographs please take one of the reports from the table near the south door.

Pewsheet for October 14th/21st/28th
Please note that the next edition of the pew sheet will cover three weeks. Space may therefore be limited and notices should be submitted earlier than usual.

A message from Rev. Denise Critchell (Lacey Green)

Fundraising Opportunity
We are taking advantage of a fundraising initiative with Phoenix Trading. This is your opportunity to stock up on Christmas and general greetings cards, whilst also raising much needed funds for St Dunstan's - 30% of any purchase will be donated to this church. Look out for the leaflets at the back of the church over the coming weeks. Any queries to Sue PR 275287
