Prayer for the Week
Everlasting God, you have ordained and constituted the ministries of angels and mortals in a wonderful order: grant that as your holy angels always serve you in heaven, so, at your command, they may help and defend us on earth;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Your prayers are asked this week for:

Review of the Parish Eucharist at St. Dunstan’s
At the recent PCC meeting a conversation was started to see how we might make the Parish Eucharist even more inspiring, relevant and accessible. PCC members were invited to say what they liked and disliked about the current service. These comments are now being taken in to a meeting of a small worship sub group to see how we can refresh our worship using the additional material available in Common Worship. Everyone is invited to be a part of this conversation. We need two members from the congregation to come along to the meeting on Saturday October 5th at 10 am at The Rectory in addition to two PCC members, James and Rob Brown. If you would like come along to the meeting please speak with James. If you would like to be involved in the conversation please email, write or speak to James or Rob with your thoughts about the current content of the Parish Eucharist and any suggestions for the future.

A list of urgently required items can be found in the porch. Thank you in anticipation of your help. Risborough Team News
“The outcome of the Team Consultation day is that is has been agreed to explore with Bishop Alan the disbanding of the Risborough Team structure in favour of co-operating as individual parishes in an informal way”. Risborough Team Confirmation Service at St. John’s Church, Lacey Green, November 24th at 6pm.
Confirmation is traditionally seen as the entry point to receive Holy Communion as a person ‘confirms’ the promises made on their behalf at their Baptism. Preparation sessions are available for adults on Monday November 11th and November 18th at 8 pm (venue to be confirmed); and for children/teenagers on Saturday November 9th and 16th from 2.30-4.30 pm. If you (and/or your child) are thinking about being confirmed please speak with James. You may find the letter which will be in the next newsletter at the beginning of October helpful.

Theft/attempted break in at St. Dunstan’s
We have changed the locks on the church hall and choir vestry. We are looking to install a key pad for the choir vestry door so that more people can gain access to this part of the church and the church hall when they need to. If you need access to the church hall or vestry and do not have a key please contact James, Sue or Susanne or one of the other key holders. I apologise for the inconvenience this will cause in the short term. James

Triple Edition of the Pew Sheet
This will cover the Sundays of October 13th, 20th and 27th. Please bear these dates in mind as space is likely to be limited.

Can you spare 6 Sunday mornings a year?
We have lost some adult helpers and would welcome new volunteers to join the team who run the 10 o'clock Club for our children? You will join an existing group and can help in the planning and running of your sessions or just be the extra adult required to meet our Child Protection needs. All ages are therefore very obviously welcome!! For more information please speak to Cathy (343226) or James.

New Welcome leaflet – please take a copy
A new welcome leaflet has been produced to promote the various services and groups that exist at St. Dunstan’s and St. Peter’s. Please take a copy and let me have your thoughts before we distribute this to the wider parish. James

Book on Angels
As part of the sermon today I have made use of a book called ‘Angels’ written by Jane Williams. This beautifully illustrated book traces the story of angels in the Jewish and Christian traditions and examines questions such as what angels look like and guardian angels. It is published by Lion and the ISB numbers are ISBN-10: 0745952224 or ISBN-13: 978-0745952222 James
