Volunteers Required - Churchyard leaf sweep and maintenance
At 9.30 am on Saturday November 9th and Saturday November 30th we are looking to clear the fallen leaves from the churchyard and to carry out some general tasks such as pruning trees and maintaining paths. We can provide some tools but if you can bring any yourself that would be extremely helpful. James

This year we will be welcoming Brownies and Guides from 1st Monks Risborough who will be present at the service and also take part in the Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial at the top of Mill Lane at about 11.15am. This year there will also be a service of Holy Communion (BCP) at St. Peter’s Chapel Owlswick at 11.30 am.

Please put this date in your diary and if you can help provide refreshments or can help out on the day please can you let Sue Ingram know.

Risborough Team Confirmation Service at St. John’s Church, Lacey Green, November 24th at 6pm.
Confirmation is traditionally seen as the entry point to receive Holy Communion as a person ‘confirms’ the promises made on their behalf at their Baptism. Preparation sessions are available for adults on Monday November 11th and November 18th at 8 pm (venue to be confirmed); and for children/teenagers on Saturday November 9th and 16th from 2.30-4.30 pm. If you (and/or your child) are thinking about being confirmed please speak with James. You may find the letter which is in the current newsletter helpful.

Theft/attempted break in at St. Dunstan’s
We have changed the locks on the church hall and choir vestry. We are now unable to install a key pad for the choir vestry door as we had hoped. If you need access to the church hall or vestry and do not have a key please contact James, Sue or Susanne or one of the other key holders in advance. I apologise for the inconvenience this will cause and we will do our best to improve access to the choir vestry. James

Can you spare 6 Sunday mornings a year?
We have lost some adult helpers and would welcome new volunteers to join the team who run the 10 o'clock Club for our children? You will join an existing group and can help in the planning and running of your sessions or just be the extra adult required to meet our Child Protection needs. All ages are therefore very obviously welcome!! For more information please speak to Cathy (343226) or James.

Harvest ‘Thank you’
Thank you to everyone who decorated St. Peter’s and St. Dunstan’s for Harvest. Both the chapel and the church looked fabulous and it was great to receive so many items for the work of the Whitechapel Mission. We have also sent a cheque for £529.45 being the combined collection from both services held. James

Church Times ‘Sampler’
I have left 10 samplers on the table towards the back of the church for anyone interested in taking out a special introductory offer as part of this paper’s 150th anniversary celebrations. James

Review of the Parish Eucharist at St. Dunstan’s
The meeting of the small worship sub group is next due to meet on Saturday December 7th. There is therefore still plenty of time to let James or Rob know your views on such things for example as: singing the psalm, the use of traditional language in Advent and Lent, the length of the service. If you have any thoughts about the worship at the Parish Eucharist please let James or Rob know so that these can be taken in to consideration.

Risborough Team News
Please see the separate cream coloured sheet on the table for the latest update.

Review of the Parish Eucharist at St. Dunstan’s
At the recent PCC meeting a conversation was started to see how we might make the Parish Eucharist even more inspiring, relevant and accessible. PCC members were invited to say what they liked and disliked about the current service. These comments are now being taken in to a meeting of a small worship sub group to see how we can refresh our worship using the additional material available in Common Worship. Updates will be posted in due course.

Risborough Team News
“The outcome of the Team Consultation day is that is has been agreed to explore with Bishop Alan the disbanding of the Risborough Team structure in favour of co-operating as individual parishes in an informal way”. A meeting has now been arranged for Monday October 7th with the archdeacon and Bishop Alan to discern a way forward.

St. Dunstan’s Fellowship
The next meeting is on Thursday October 10th at 8 pm in the church hall with a talk by Susanne Carr “Picking a winner, 20 paintings in the Ashmolean.”

Book on Angels
As part of the sermon last Sunday I made use of a book called ‘Angels’ written by Jane Williams. This beautifully illustrated book traces the story of angels in the Jewish and Christian traditions and examines questions such as what angels look like and guardian angels.
