Confirmation ‘Classes’
A number of people have recently expressed an interest in being confirmed in the Church of England. If you (or your son/daughter) would like to consider this please contact the parish office on parishoffice@stmarysrisborough.org.uk. The ‘classes’ usually involve a couple of sessions lasting approximately two hours each. 


Candlelight Concert: Saturday 4th January at 7pm
The Chandos Ensemble return for an evening of music by Vivaldi, Handel and Corelli. Tickets £8 – accompanied children(under 18) £3, available from Penny 07762 880219 or Sally’s Sewing Box, Duke St., Princes Risborough or www.ticketsource.co.uk/st-dunstans-church . Complimentary glass of wine/soft drink included.

Volunteers needed to sit in on the odd 10 O'Clock Club session
We have about 8 sessions in 2020 when we need an extra adult to sit in the with the leaders as an observer, to meet our safeguarding obligations.  You will not be required to do anything other than be an extra body in the hall.  Whilst I do not have the exact dates yet, if you are interested please get in touch.  Cathy 343226  cathy.farquhar@btinternet.com

The long wait for God’s renewal of creation will be over  when everything and everyone experiences new possibility – so come, let us join with all life to worship God.

It is in the landscape and the bodies of the overlooked people that God’s redemption will be seen.

Second Reading: James 5 v 7-10
James calls for people who long for the change that God’s coming kingdom will bring to be patient, like farmers who must wait for the crop to grow.

Gospel: Matthew 11 v 2-11
John the Baptist has to be patient as he waits in prison for God’s kingdom and Jesus tells him it will be just as Isaiah has said – seen in the bodies, the lives, of those considered least.

Pulpit Conservation
Over the past few weeks the pulpit has been carefully and lovingly conserved by Cliveden Conservation to ensure that the essential features and colours are not lost to future generations. A decorative metal band is also being conserved for St. Peter’s Chapel which will be remounted once the structural investigations there and any remedial work have been completed.

Christ the King // Sunday before Advent


Our focus for our worship today is confession, for it is only through acknowledgement and repentance that we are able to draw close to Christ our King, whom we honour and
celebrate today.

The prophet speaks words of warning from God to the shepherds who do not care for their sheep and God's promise that He will intervene to take care of them himself.

St Paul tells his readers that Christ makes known who God is and through faith in him we are forgiven, redeemed and strengthened.

Pulpit Conservation
Over the past few weeks the pulpit has been carefully and lovingly conserved by Cliveden Conservation to ensure that the essential features and colours are not lost to future generations. A decorative metal band is also being conserved for St. Peter’s Chapel which will be remounted once the structural investigations there and any remedial work have been completed.

Confirmation ‘Classes’
A number of people have recently expressed an interest in being confirmed in the Church of England. If you (or your son/daughter) would like to consider this please contact the parish office on parishoffice@stmarysrisborough.org.uk. The ‘classes’ usually involve a couple of sessions lasting approximately two hours each.

Monks Risborough C of E Primary School - Reading Help Volunteers
Members of the congregation of St. Dunstan's have been helping children at the school with their reading, which has proved to be of great benefit. The school is very grateful for the help that has been given and is now ready to re-start the reading helper programme. If you have previously been involved with this, or if you are interested in finding out more about volunteering in this capacity, please contact Jane Curry on 07973 300758 or at jlecurry@gmail.com, or in person at church on Sunday.

Monks Risborough C of E Primary School Christmas Fair
The school is holding its Christmas Fair on Saturday 7th December and would welcome volunteers from the congregation of St. Dunstan's to help with this. This could involve serving tea and coffee, helping at a stall or at the entrance. In the middle of the day the St. Dunstan's Choir will be there singing carols, so do please come to support us there if you can. ‘Pop up Cinema’ in St. Dunstan’s Church
Victoria and Abdul (12) will be shown on Saturday November 23rd at 7pm. This is the extraordinary true story of an unexpected friendship in the later years of Queen Victoria (played by Judi Dench) and a young clerk, who travels from India to participate in the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. Dying Matters
Talking about death, dying and funerals raises big questions that it’s helpful to face at some point, but it can be hard to talk to family and friends. On Wednesday November 13th there is an opportunity to come along to a session from 10am to 12 noon at 17 Wellington Avenue, Princes Risborough (home of Revs. Steve and Rose Williams) to think, chat and articulate these questions in a relaxed environment. A series of question cards are used to encourage conversations and to listen to others’ perspectives and experiences in small groups. The sessions are open for people of all faiths, doubts and none. Quiz at Orchard View Farm, Little Meadle
This is in aid of St. Peter’s Chapel, Owlswick and takes place on Saturday 26th October starting 7.30pm. Volunteers Required: Churchyard leaf sweep
At 9.30 am on Saturday November 2nd and Saturday November 23rd we are looking to clear the fallen leaves from the churchyard. Please can you bring along a rake and/or leaf grabber if you have one and we will provide plenty of big, garden sacks. Rev James Tomkins

‘Pop up Cinema’ in St. Dunstan’s Church
‘Mary Poppins Returns’ (U) will be shown on Saturday November 9th at 5pm. Following a personal loss, a now grown-up Jane and Michael Banks, along with Michael’s three children, are visited by the enigmatic Mary Poppins. Through her unique magical skills, she helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives. Victoria and Abdul (12) will be shown on Saturday November 23rd at 7pm. This is the extraordinary true story of an unexpected friendship in the later years of Queen Victoria (played by Judi Dench) and a young clerk, who travels from India to participate in the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. Dying Matters
Talking about death, dying and funerals raises big questions that it’s helpful to face at some point, but it can be hard to talk to family and friends. On Wednesday November 13th there is an opportunity to come along to a session from 10am to 12 noon at 17 Wellington Avenue, Princes Risborough (home of Revs. Steve and Rose Williams) to think, chat and articulate these questions in a relaxed environment. A series of question cards are used to encourage conversations and to listen to others’ perspectives and experiences in small groups. The sessions are open for people of all faiths, doubts and none. Confirmation ‘Classes’
A number of people have recently expressed an interest in being confirmed in the Church of England. If you (or your son/daughter) would like to consider this please contact James. The ‘classes’ usually involve a couple of sessions lasting approximately two hours each. Confirmation is traditionally seen as the entry point to receive Holy Communion as a person ‘confirms’ for themselves the promises made on their behalf at their Baptism. A confirmation service will be arranged in a nearby church (possibly at St. Dunstan’s) with a local bishop leading the service.

This will take place on Wednesday December 11th at 8.00 pm.
