The writer of the letter to the Hebrews acknowledges the suffering of Jesus and identifies Jesus as the perfect high priest, offering the sacrifice of himself to achieve eternal salvation for human beings.

Gospel Reading:  Mark 10: 35 – 45
To the annoyance of the other disciples, James and John approach Jesus to request the best places in heaven for themselves.

6:00pm   Choral Evensong
Readings: Joshua 14: 6-14; Matthew 12:1-21
Hymns:   115, Psalm 141, 169, 447

Prayer for the Week

Most glorious God, in Jesus you show us that your will is to save.  Grant to us your people the boldness to desire a place in your kingdom, the courage to drink the cup of suffering, and the grace to find in service the glory you promise.  We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever.  Amen.

Harvest Thanksgiving

The flowers and decorations looked fantastic, both services were very well attended, the harvest lunch was enjoyed by over fifty people and over £500 and numerous goods have been sent off to the Whitechapel Mission for its work with homeless people.

Health and Safety Officer
To ensure that the church building and churchyard is kept well maintained for everyone to enjoy we need to appoint someone who will ensure that the necessary safeguards are in place.
