Sunday 4th Nov 2012

22nd Sunday after Trinity

The Israelites, freed from Egypt, guided through the desert and waiting at Mount Sinai, received the commandment to love God above all else.  Together, before we turn to Advent, let’s allow ourselves to receive that reminder again, and worship as the beloved of God.

8.00 am Holy Communion (Book of Common Prayer)
10.00 am   All Age Family Eucharist and Baptisms of Liam and Ava Bell, Stevie Webster and Emily Ludgate

Hymns: 108; Father Abraham had many sons (see back); 411; 47, 387, 166, 856, 305

First Reading: Deuteronomy 6: 1-9
The old covenant was given as commandment to be taught and observed, known in signs, symbols and conversation.

Gospel Reading:  Mark 12: 28 -34
Our part in God’s covenant relationship is for us to love God wholly, and then to be that love for others where we are.

3:00pm   Time To Remember (A service of thanksgiving and remembrance for those we love)

Volunteers Required – St Dunstan’s Leaf Sweep and Maintenance
Saturday Dec 1st from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm.
We are looking to clear the fallen leaves from the churchyard and to carry out some general tasks such as pruning trees and maintaining paths.  We can provide some tools but if you can bring any yourself that would be extremely helpful.  We hope you can make it. James.

10 o’clock club helpers required
We have a number of very committed people who help to run our children’s activities on a Sunday morning. They are split into different groups so that on average people help out approximately every six weeks in putting together a programme for the children to enjoy using various resources that are available. With a couple of helpers stepping down we need two or three more people to help out with the club. No skills are required just a willingness to work with young people. If you are interested in helping out, please let James know.

Harvest Thanksgiving
I have received a nice thank you letter from the Whitechapel Mission for the donations that were sent totalling £536.90. This will help greatly in the mission’s work of supporting people who are homeless. I have also put in the porch a certificate of recognition for the generous gift of Harvest goods and a copy of their autumn newsletter. On behalf of the Whitechapel Mission may I thank you for all your support for this charity. James

Stewardship Initiative
If for any reason you do not receive a letter please accept my apologies and take a spare one from the box on the table towards the back of the church. James

Monks Monkeys – Piano/Keyboard Player required
Monks Monkeys meets each Thursday in the church hall during term time from 2.00 to 3.00pm for pre-school age children and their parents/carers. If you are interested in helping out (or know of anyone who might) please let James know.

Health and Safety Officer
To ensure that the church building and churchyard is kept well maintained for everyone to enjoy we need to appoint someone who will ensure that the necessary safeguards are in place. If you are interested in finding out more about this role please speak with James. In the meantime if you see something that is an obvious hazard please let James, Sue or Rosemary know.

Event team leader
Rosemary will be stepping down at the end of the year from this position. Currently there are five other members of the team. We need to find someone who is willing to oversee this team so that we continue to put on our varied programme of activities which includes concerts, visits, the fete etc. If you are interested in finding out more please speak with James.

The community bus needs volunteers
