Prayer for the week
O God, most high and most near, you send glad tidings to the lowly, you hide not your face from the poor; those who dwell in darkness you call into the light. Take away our blindness, remove the hardness of our hearts, and form us into a humble people, that, at the advent of you Son, we may recognise him in our midst and find joy in his saving presence. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever.
Your prayers are asked this week for:
- For the leaders of the European nations as they seek to ease the financial crisis
- For the people of Egypt and of Syria, as they seek freedom and justice
- For those who have died in the recent violence in Afghanistan
- For those whose homes and businesses have been damaged by the recent storms and wintry weather
- For those who will be homeless and living in poverty this Christmas: that we may we show a true concern for their needs and that they too may rejoice at the coming of Christ.
- All teachers and lecturers and other staff in schools and colleges. Good parent-teacher relationships.
- International aid charities and those who collect and support them.
- Residents of Walnut Crescent (Longwick), Hinton Crossing (Bledlow)
- Those in need who are known in our parish:
- and also further afield for:
- Gordon Haynes; Christine; Deborah Ryley; Joan Male; Richard Irvine; Emma, Matt and Olivia; Sarah and Matt; Sally Maddox, Dewis Smith, Sylvia Jackson
- For the recently departed:
- Joan Pitcher, Dorothy Pine
- Those whose anniversary of death falls at this time particularly:
- Roy Faithfull, Joan Howard, Jason Travers, Ronald Faulkner, Lillian Thomas, Audrey Astley-Cooper
Please remember the charities that St Dunstan's supports, in particular this week:
