‘Praying with the Psalms’ – Lent Course
Following the successful course on the Apocrypha last year Rob is running a course on the Psalms starting in February. This will hopefully clarify the meaning of some of them and also help us to see how they can help us when we pray. There is a choice of either: a day workshop in the Church Hall on Saturday 13th February from 10.00am—4.00pm (drinks provided but please bring your own packed lunch) or four sessions on Monday afternoons in the Church Hall, from 2.30—4.00pm on 15th, 22nd and 29th February and 7th March. There is a purple leaflet on the table giving more information and a tear off slip to be returned to Rob or James by Sunday January 31st. The sessions are:
The Psalms and our experiences” How they can help us express our experiences and feelings
“The language can set us free” How they can help us express the inexpressible
“The right words in the right place” How the psalms can help us to have a conversation with God
“Getting your own back” The tension between revenge in the psalms and Jesus’ teaching about forgiveness
