Prayer of the Week
O God, whose image we bear and whose name we carry, yours is the world and all it contains. Recall us to our true allegiance, so that above the powers and rulers of this world you alone may claim our fullest loyalty and love. We make this prayer through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever. Amen

Your prayers are asked this week for:

  • An easing of the political tension in Spain along with a constructive and peaceful solution to the question of Catalan independence
  • The compassionate and fair treatment of Rohingya Muslims being persecuted and forced to flee Myanmar
  • The victims of recent hurricanes and storms in the United Kingdom and abroad
  • Those involved in the Brexit negotiations that both sides may be able to reach a satisfactory conclusion
  • Those starving and going hungry today for an international programme to end global hunger
  • The mission, ministry and congregational life of the Baptist Church in Princes Risborough.
  • Pilgrim’s Close & Little Ham Lane (MR) Greenway cottages & Grovers Court (PR)

Martin Luther and the Reformation Tuesday 31st Oct
31st October 2017 is the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther pinning his 95 Theses to the door of Castle Church in Wittenburg and what is considered by many to be the start of the Reformation. It is a suitable time to reflect on the Reformation, Luther and faith. To mark this event, St Mary's Haddenham is hosting a talk at 8 pm by the Revd Stephen Kuhrt on Martin Luther and the Reformation. All are welcome.

Leaf Sweepers Required
At 9.30 am on Saturday November 4th and Saturday December 2nd we are looking to clear the fallen leaves from the churchyard. Please can you bring along a rake and/or leaf grabber if you have one and we will provide plenty of big, garden sacks. James

Bonfire Night suitable for All Ages
This will take place on Saturday November 4th 5.30pm – 7.30pm at 32 Summerleys Road, Princes Risborough. Hot soup, mulled wine, hot chocolate, soft drinks and cakes will be served. Please bring ONE firework (not too loud!). RSVP Sue Ingram, 275287 or suemingram@hotmail.com.

Situations Vacant!
We need two volunteers to come forward to fill a couple of vacancies that have occurred. The first of these is the electoral roll officer who maintains the membership list of the church. The time commitment is a few hours a year except in 2019 when the membership list will need to be completely refreshed but this needn’t be too onerous. The second is our contact officer with the Charities Commission which again is not that onerous and requires being a liaison point with the Charities Commission and submitting an annual return. If anyone is interested in fulfilling either (or both) of these roles please speak to James.

More sidespeople/welcomers required
Providing a friendly and confident welcome helps to sustain a vibrant worshipping community at St. Dunstan’s. We need three or four extra volunteers to help out at the 10 am service about 8 times each year in giving out hymn books, putting up  hymn numbers, reading the lesson (optional), and putting the hymn books etc. back at the end. It requires being at church by 9.15am and finishing at about 11.25am. In particular we need help on the 1st Sunday of the month which could be done by a family. If you are interested in finding out more/helping out please speak to Susanne Dodds (342746) or James.

The Church Times Festival of Faith and Literature
This takes place from 16th – 18th February 2018 at Bloxham School, Oxfordshire. Celebrating the very best fiction and non-fiction with a faith perspective, the Church Times Festival of Faith and Literature returns to Oxfordshire next Spring. For 2018 we welcome authors James Runcie and Francesca Kay, journalist Kurt Barling, the Shakespeare Revue Company, Bishop Philip North, poet-priest Malcolm Guite and many others.
