God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. We come before God with our prayers and praises, that together we may renew our faith.

God promises Abram that he will be the ancestor of a people who will bring blessing to everyone on earth.

Second Reading: Romans 4.1-5,13-17
We do not earn our salvation, but rather it is God’s gift, which we receive through faith.

Gospel: John 3.1-17
Jesus tells Nicodemus that eternal life is available to those who have faith in what seems logically impossible.

Hymns: 487, 315, 534. Psalm 121

Prayer of the week:
Holy God, from the dazzling cloud you revealed Jesus in glory as your beloved Son. During these forty days enlighten the Church with the bright glory of your presence. Inspire us by your word, and so transform us into the image of the risen Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, holy and mighty God forever and ever. Amen.

Your prayers are asked this week for:

  • The health of the global population amid fear and panic caused by the coronavirus.
  • People suffering amid political unrest in places like Haiti and India.
  • Those who serve the community in unseen and unrecognised ways, for the acts of kindness done without expectation of reward.
  • The Bishop of Buckingham and The Archdeacon of Buckingham,
  • Town Farm Barns (PR) Shootacre Lane (B)
  • Those who are in need in our parish:
    • Pam Johnson, Michael Hopkins, Elsie Ratlidge, Pamela Baldwin and family
  • And also further afield for:
    • Alastair, Ginny Gibbs, Suzy Cooper, Jonathan Kelly, Bill, Sue, Marriette
  • Those recently deceased: Robert Stonell
  • Those whose anniversary of death falls at this time:
    • Brian Watts, Leslie Morecraft, Chris Broadmeadow, Ethel Galley, Jasmine Cawley.

Can I please encourage you to join me in saying this prayer each day for all of us at St Dunstan’s during the Vacancy?     Thank you.  Rob

Heavenly Father,
We thank you for the life of St Dunstan’s over many centuries: for its worship, its ministry and its mission
within and to the local community.
We thank you for the privilege of being members of the Church today.
During this Vacancy, strengthen us with your Holy Spirit, that our worship may be more worthy,
our witness more effective, our lives more holy,
and renew our enthusiasm to share all that you call us to be and do for the honour of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Our Parish also supports:
Christian Aid is an international development charity. We work with people, of all faiths and none, in around 50 countries, to eradicate poverty. www.christianaid.org.uk

Notices

Coronavirus.
We are advised that, during this outbreak, we should not shake hands during the Peace and that those who intinct the host in the wine, must allow the priest to do that on their behalf. Advice may change if the epidemic worsens.

Looking ahead during the Vacancy
Before Christmas about 40 people attended a day called "Better Together" which was the opportunity to express how they were feeling about James' departure. That proved to be appreciated and very helpful.

I am planning another two sessions called "Better Together Again!" These will be an opportunity to think about the Vacancy, but especially to look ahead to the future.  As part of the process of appointing a new Team Vicar, the PCC will need to approve what is called a Parish Profile outlining what the parish is like now, what it means to be part of the Risborough Team, what we would like St Dunstan's to be like in the coming years and what qualities will be required in the priest appointed to help us take these things forward. Both sessions will be similar and everyone is invited to attend one of them.  They will both take place in the church hall on Wednesday 22nd April: the first from 10.30am - 12 noon; the second from 7.30 - 9.00pm.  All of us who are members of the St Dunstan's Family share responsibility for the kind of Church we are and will be.  I hope therefore that as many people as possible will take part.  More information later, but please book the date and time in your diary now.  Thank you. Rob

Annual revision of Electoral Roll- closes 6th April
Forms are available at the back of the church for anyone wishing to join the parish electoral roll.  There was a complete revision last year and so you only need to apply if you did not complete a form last year.  Any queries Susanne Dodds 01844 342746 or email stdunstanspewsheet@gmail.com.

Christian Aid at St Dunstan’s 15th and 28th March
At the 10am Parish Communion Service, Philip Evans is coming to talk about the work of Christian Aid and will stay on afterwards if people want to chat to him. Charity information will be at the back of the church.  We will be having a collection to support their work and hope you will consider donating. Then on March 28th join us for a Christian Aid Big Brekkie, at 9.15am in the church hall. Egg/bacon/sausage /veggie baps with juice and tea or coffee. Suggested donation £5. Special rate for families. Hope to see you at this new venture. Phone Rosemary 344417 for more details, and if you would like to help.

The London Marathon
My brother, who has fairly recently taken up running, is doing this for Blind Veterans UK, a charity which helped my father a lot. He has to raise £2000 to take part. If you would like to support him you can do it here: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/james-blott or give me a donation to pass on. There are some small flyers on the table at the back. Thank you for reading,  Rosemary

Pringles Tubes for Summer Lighthouse Craft
Please can we have any empty canisters for the children’s craft activities. Box at the back of St Dunstan’s. Thanks.

From milk bottle tops to wellies!
The wellies are sold and the money raised funds an air ambulance. Please put any donations in the box at the back of the church. Many thanks, Rosemary
