Prayer for the week
Merciful God,
your Son came to save us
and bore our sins on the cross:
may we trust in your mercy
and know your love,
rejoicing in the righteousness
that is ours through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Your prayers are asked this week for:
 The leaders of the Israeli and Palestinian people and lasting peace for all the peoples of the Holy Land.
 Those affected by the floods in Pakistan; by Hurricane Earl on the east coast of North America; and for the 33 miners trapped in the collapsed mine in Chile
 Companies which support and supply those growing our food, for a wise use of chemicals in farming.
 Those living away from home, weekly commuters.
 Those living in The Butts (Princes Risborough), Penny Lane and Bledlow Ridge Road (Bledlow).
 Those in need who are known in our parish
 and also further afield
 For the recently departed
 Those whose anniversary of death falls at this time
Please remember the charities that St Dunstan's supports, in particular this week:
The Church Housing Trust, dedicated to the rehabilitation and resettlement of homeless people of all ages and backgrounds.

St Dunstan's Fete - September 18th 2-4pm - The Old Rectory
We shall need a lot of helpers to make this special event in the calendar a success. If you are able to spend some time setting up / packing away, collecting tables/bouncy castle, looking after a stall, making cakes / scones, serving refreshments... please sign the notice in the porch or let Rosemary know - 344417. And please invite all your friends and relations along!

The Bishop of Buckingham to visit Owlswick Chapel
Apparently the last Bishop to come St. Peter’s, Owlswick was in 1949. Bishop Alan is coming to celebrate the Harvest Festival Evensong there on Sunday September 26th at 6 pm. This will be preceded with cream teas served between 3.30 and 5.30 pm. with the chapel especially decorated for the occasion. There will also be an opportunity to bring items for the work of the Whitechapel Mission to this service.

Last Sunday’s collection
Thank you to everyone who contributed to last Sunday’s collection which was given to the Disasters Emergency Committee to help the people of Pakistan. At the last count over £350 had been collected. Thank you again for your support.

‘God beyond Church’
This is the latest in the Amersham Millenium Lecture series. The speaker is Sheila Cassidy who is the author of ‘Audacity to believe’, and ‘Confessions of a lapsed Catholic’ is the title of the latest book she is writing. The lecture takes place on Thursday September 16th at 8 pm at St. Michael and all Angels, Amersham. A leaflet can be found on the table towards the back of the church.

God in the life of series
Over the past few years we have enjoyed listening to the faith and life stories of various people within the congregation. This series starts up again on September 26th at the 10 am Eucharist with ‘God in the life of...Sheila Lane’ (our invaluable server!). If anyone would like to take part in this series, please let James know.

The September edition of ‘The Door’ is now available
Inside this month you’ll find a ‘prayer walk’ around Chequers; details of the Petertide ordinations; and the new ‘Second Church Estates Commissioner’ MP Tony Baldry talks to Sarah Meyrick about his life, his faith and his hopes for the Church of England.

Songs for All Age Communion

Wide and long and high and deep;
Wide and long and high and deep;
Wide and long and high and deep
Is the love of Jesus.

Wide and long and high and deep;
Wide and long and high and deep;
Wide and long and high and deep
Is the love of Jesus for us.

And we pray that we will know this love,
And we pray that we will grow in love,
And we pray that we will be filled up
With the Spirit of God!

Our God is a great big God,
Our God is a great big God,
Our God is a great big God,
And he holds us in his hands.
(Repeat chorus)

He's higher than a sky scraper
and he's deeper than a submarine.
He's wider than the universe
and beyond my wildest dreams.
And he's known me and he's loved me
since before the world began.
How wonderful to be a part of God's amazing plan.
