Sunday 15th May 2011
Fourth Sunday of Easter
Welcome to a service in which we celebrate our common “sheepishness” as we remember the story of the good shepherd and Jesus as the gateway to eternal life. May he give us the ability to welcome that life in all its abundance.

Welcome to St Dunstan’s Church

If you are new to Monks Risborough or just visiting please introduce yourself to the Welcomers at the door who will be happy to tell you more about the church and its events.
Coffee and tea are served in the Church Hall immediately after the 10.00am service - all are welcome.
Today

11.00 am All Age Family Service without Communion - Patronal Festival

Readings

First Reading 1 Peter 2:19-25
Like Jesus, we may be called to suffer unjustly for our faith, but we know that by following Jesus’ example, we shall have eternal life.

Gospel Reading John 10:1-10
Jesus recounts the parable of the good shepherd, who knows each of his sheep by name and leads them to find pasture through the gate of eternal life.

Prayer for the week

O God, you never cease to call even those far away, for it is your will that all be drawn into one fold. Attune our ears to the voice of the Good Shepherd, who leads us always to you, that we may find under your tender protection life in all its fullness. We ask this through Jesus Christ, the resurrection and the life, God for ever and ever.

If those who believe in Jesus thirst to follow him more closely, they will discover him to be a precious stone, the cornerstone of their lives and not a stone to trip them up.

On the eve of his death, Jesus assures his disciples that he is the way to the Father. If they believe this truth and follow his example in this life, they will follow him also to the next.
