Tabitha (or Dorcas), one of the disciples, has died and Peter has been sent to help.

This reading, with its strong, uplifting note is often used at a funeral service. The writer has a vision of heaven.

Prayer for the Week
Safe in your hand, O God, is the flock you shepherd through Jesus your Son. Lead us always to the living waters where you promise respite and refreshment, that we may be counted among those who know and follow you. We ask this through Jesus Christ, the resurrection and the life, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever.

Your prayers are asked this week for:

  •  Those who have lost loved ones or been injured as a result of the bombings in Boston and the industrial disaster in Texas;
  • The archaeological dig and plans to extend the churchyard at St. Dunstan’s
  •  We pray for book shops and the world they open to us through the joy of reading
  •  We pray for responsible advertising which does not target vulnerable groups of people, especially the young
  •  Lacey Green & Speen Parish Council
  •  Peters Lane (MR) Forest Close & Gatensbury Place (PR)
  •  Those in need who are known in our parish:
  • and also further afield for:
    • Joan Male, Bill Male, Richard Irvine, Alastair, Marion Mullens
  • The recently departed: Tom Rutland
  • Those whose anniversary of death falls at this time:
    • Flora Skinner, Robert Hartle, Alan Thomas, Winifred Wakefield, Anne Minter, David Vere

Please remember the charities that the parish supports, in particular this week: Risborough Carers Charity, assisting those in the locality who have mental health, learning or physical disabilities or who are elderly.

Annual Meetings April 22nd at 8 pm
Reports for the annual meetings are now available on the table near the main door. Please make every effort to attend this meeting. There will be wine and soft drinks available, a presentation on the archaeological dig and churchyard extension and an initial conversation about how we continue to grow as a church (the electoral roll is now 169) bearing in mind the allocation of clergy to the Risborough Team in the future. The latter discussion has now come in to sharper focus following the announcement that the Revd. Denise is due to retire as vicar of Lacey Green in July

Following last year’s highly successful tour, I have again managed to make special arrangements for a prayer pilgrimage at Westminster Abbey on Wednesday June 5th. We will meet in the ‘lay-by’ in Monks Risborough at 3.30 pm to travel up to London by coach to arrive at the Abbey as it is closing to the general public. We will join a Canon Steward for a ‘pilgrim tour’ as we are taken around the Abbey hearing about its history and praying in its sacred places. The tour will begin at 6.15 pm, which this time will include the gardens, before ending with Compline at about 7.15 pm. We hope to return to Monks Risborough at about 9 pm.
