Prayer for the Week
Eternal God, you draw near to us in Christ and make yourself our guest. Amid the cares of our daily lives, make us attentive to your voice and alert to your presence, that we may treasure your word above all else. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever.

Your prayers are asked this week for:

  • The completion of the archaeological dig and churchyard extension
  • Those struggling with the continuing hot weather and for medical staff dealing with the increased workload
  • Refugees, the poor and victims of prejudice; for all of the troubled countries of the world today.
  • the family of Lee Rigby and for all families that have lost loved ones in tragic circumstances
  • For the Lacey Green and Speen Parish Council
  • For those who live in Peters Lane (MR) Forest Close & Gatensbury Place (PR)
  • For all who use technology in broadcasting and who present to us visual images of our world
  • The Confederation of British Industry and its members, for local businesses and the wealth they generate
  • those in need who are known in our parish:
  • and also further afield for:
    • Joan Male, Bill Male, Richard Irvine, Alastair, David Holding
  • The recently departed:
  • Those whose anniversary of death falls at this time:
    • Beryl Stannard, Ernest Harris, David Sheppard, Christopher Bradley, Noel Bartlett, Christine Griggs

Please remember the charities that the parish supports, in particular this week:
The Princes Centre, assisting those in the locality who have mental health, learning or physical disabilities or who are elderly.

Calling Grass-cutters, Cleaners, Anyone who moves things around in the Church…..
The PCC is legally responsible for making sure that everyone who helps us does so safely, minimising any risks of harming themselves.  We are so pleased that Angus Sangster is able to offer us a short training session (30 minutes or so) on the safe use of chemicals (COSHH) and manual handling after the 10am service TODAY.  The tips and information will be useful around the home and work as well and everyone is welcome, whether they are currently on one of our rotas or not. There is no need to register – just turn up.  Any questions please speak to or email the churchwardens.

Thank You and Help!
After many years of being on the Church Cleaning Rota, Sally Mortimer has decided to have a rest and pass on the baton to another able person – SO a very big THANK YOU to her and HELP! I need someone to take her place. Anyone who can help will be warmly welcomed. Duties are not difficult; mainly dusting and vacuum cleaning, and we work in twos. The more we have the less number of times a year we are called on to help. Please contact Margaret Pitman 01844 346008 if you can help in any way.

More Grass cutters required in the churchyard
We again need to find two or three more people to join our team to help cut the grass in the churchyard. Patches of grass can be given according to the time you have available. Please let James know if you can help.
