Prayer for the Week
God of salvation, the splendour of your glory dispels the darkness of earth, for in Christ we behold the nearness of your kingdom. Now make us quick to follow where he beckons, eager to embrace the tasks of the gospel. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever. Amen

Your prayers are asked in the coming weeks for:

  • Good stewardship of our time, talents and gifts as part of our Christian faith
  • The troubled places of the world: for the people of Syria, Egypt and Ukraine
  • Those who work in agriculture
  • Those who continue to be affected by flooding and heavy rainfall.
  • For a new vision of using the world’s resources in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way
  • For those who live in Upper Icknield Way (MR) Jasmine Crescent & Lime Road (PR)
  • For the Princes Centre, ‘Pop in’ and St. Dunstan’s lunch club
  • Those who are sick in our parish:
  • And also further afield for:
    • Joan Male, Bill Male, Richard Irvine, Alastair, David Holding, Matt Elworthy, Uncle Frank
  • The recently departed: Jean Hoar
  • Those whose anniversary of death falls at this time:
    • Edward Ginno, Marion Reece, Oscar Tahmasebi, Win Cummings, Robert Millican, Ruth Rider

Please remember the charities that the parish supports:
Tearfund, working in partnership with Christian agencies and churches worldwide to tackle the causes and effects of poverty

Notices

New Chalice and Paten
Following the theft last month we have received an anonymous donation to enable us to buy a new paten (small plate) and two new chalices. If you wish to make a contribution to the replacement of one of the chalices please can you let James know.

Copies of a draft Parish Eucharist for Easter
Following the recent meeting of the worship group, my sermon last Sunday and the PCC meeting on Monday we have some copies of the updated order of service for the Parish Eucharist for the season of Easter. If people could share these around and pass any comments on to the worship group that would be very helpful. The service focuses on the resurrection and in due course there will be other services produced to cover most of the church’s year e.g. Lent and Advent. Thank you, James and Rob.

New PCC members required
The Church Annual Meetings take place on Monday April 7th at 8.00pm. This is the time at which new members are elected on to the Parochial Church Council (PCC). If you are interested in becoming a member of the PCC please speak with James or one of the existing PCC members (see inside cover of the newsletter) to find out more. After three very valuable years Sue Ingram is stepping down as churchwarden so we are also looking for a successor to replace her.

Silent Prayer Meeting, Monday February 3rd at 8pm:
We need silence to help us to get a proper perspective on our lives; to hear the still, small voice of God, and to refresh our inner being. All are welcome to these meetings of any faith or none. The meeting starts with some simple relaxation exercises, a short passage from the Bible to reflect upon in the half hour of silence, followed by a time of sharing of our experiences if people wish. For further information please contact James
