Paul commends Christ’s example: Jesus humbled himself on humankind’s behalf, giving up his divine status, and even life itself. Now God calls all to bow to Christ’s supremacy over his entire creation.
Passion Narrative Matthew 26:14 – end of 27
Pontius Pilate accedes to the Sanhedrin’s demands and the crowd’s anger, and orders Jesus’ execution. Having been brutalised by Roman soldiers, Jesus is crucified amid the mockery of priests and passers-by. But as he dies, the earth shakes and the Temple curtain is torn in two.

Prayer for the Week
O God of eternal glory, you anointed Jesus your servant to bear our sins, to encourage the weary, to raise up and restore the fallen. Keep before our eyes the splendour of the paschal mystery of Christ, and, by our sharing the passion and resurrection, seal our lives with the victorious sign of his obedience and exaltation. We ask this through Christ, our liberator from sin, who lives with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, holy and mighty God for ever and ever. Amen.
Your prayers are asked in the coming weeks for:

Maundy Thursday Eucharist, 8pm
As we commemorate the events surrounding the last supper, this seems a very suitable occasion to bless the new Communion vessels prior to their use for the first time on Easter Sunday.

Patronal Festival Barbeque
Our Patronal Festival Barbeque will be held on Sunday 18th May 2014 starting at 12.30 pm, after the morning service which will start at 11.00 am on this day. Tickets are available from Jane or Keith Gibbons (01844 344113) priced at £7 for adults and £3 for the first child in each family aged between 5 and 16 years old. As always the success of this event depends on your generous donations of salads and desserts. There is a list on the notice board in the church porch for you to sign if you are prepared to donate a dish. Help is also required to pre-cook the chicken on the Sunday morning. To avoid any disappointment, please buy your tickets and sign the list for salads and desserts as early as possible.
Stock-Taking/Inventory – Volunteers required
The current inventory for St Dunstan’s needs to be updated and I would be very grateful for any help towards counting and checking the church assets. The list is divided into sections; textiles (e.g. altar frontals and choir robes), church hall kitchen contents (plastic jugs and numerous teaspoons), library (hymn books etc.), metal-ware and the all encompassing “miscellaneous”. The stonework and stained glass sections have not changed much! Please speak to Susanne Dodds (contact details on the front of the pew sheet) if you feel you would be able to take on even a small part of any section. It would be a huge help.
