Prayer for the Week
Gracious Father, you gave up your Son out of love for the world: lead us to ponder the mysteries of his passion, that we may know eternal peace through the shedding of our Saviour’s blood, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Your prayers are asked in the coming weeks for:

  • World leaders, that they will act with justice and integrity in the face of national and international conflict
  • All those who search and wait for the missing Malaysia Airlines plane. May they find answers to their questions and hope in their anxiety.
  • Car dealers, for selling of new and second hand vehicles, for the quality of the goods they supply
  • Carers in the community – both paid and unpaid
  • Canterbury Close (MR) Bell Close (PR) Bell Crescent (L)
  • Those who are sick in our parish:
  • And also further afield for:
    • Joan Male, Bill Male, Richard Irvine, Alastair, David Holding, Matt Elworthy, Uncle Frank
  • The recently departed: Harry ‘Whistle’ Loveridge
  • Those whose anniversary of death falls at this time:
    • Ruth Reynolds, Tilde Bradley, Tom Rutland, Cheryl Hughes, Stan Rogers, Joan Minns, Chrissie Hollingdale, Rose Edwards

Please remember the charities that the parish supports:
Rope (Relief for Oppressed People Everywhere), combating oppressive poverty across the world and striving to change the lives of the poor.

Church Annual Meetings, April 7th
Drinks will be served from 7.30 pm with the meetings starting at 8 pm. Apologies can be sent to Douglas Miller (01844 343206). The meetings elect the two churchwardens for the coming year; give a chance to review/comment on church life over the past 12 months and look ahead to the coming year. We also hope to have the new communion vessels on view and discuss the proposed new housing developments in the parish. Reports for the meetings are now available for your perusal.

It is for all ages. You can look round at your own pace. Admission is free. Tea and coffee will be available.

Patronal Festival Barbeque
Our Patronal Festival Barbeque will be held on Sunday 18th May 2014 starting at 12.30 pm, after the morning service which will start at 11.00 am on this day. Tickets are available from Jane or Keith Gibbons (01844 344113) priced at £7 for adults and £3 for the first child in each family aged between 5 and 16 years old. As always the success of this event depends on your generous donations of salads and desserts. There is a list on the notice board in the church porch for you to sign if you are prepared to donate a dish. Help is also required to pre-cook the chicken on the Sunday morning. To avoid any disappointment, please buy your tickets and sign the list for salads and desserts as early as possible.

Stock-Taking/Inventory – Volunteers required
The current inventory for St Dunstan’s needs to be updated and I would be very grateful for any help towards counting and checking the church assets. The list is divided into sections; textiles (e.g. altar frontals and choir robes), church hall kitchen contents (plastic jugs and numerous teaspoons), library (hymn books etc.), metal-ware and the all encompassing “miscellaneous”. The stonework and stained glass sections have not changed much!  Please speak to Susanne Dodds (contact details on the front of the pewsheet) if you feel you would be able to take on even a small part of any section. It would be a huge help.

Visit to Worcester Cathedral
This years’ visit to a cathedral city will be on Wednesday June 18th. Worcester is a beautiful city with the river Severn running through it. There are also 45 minute trips along the Severn run by Worcester River Cruises and Choral Evensong in the cathedral at 5.30 pm. The coach will leave the lay-by in Monks Risborough at 9:15 am, drop us by the cathedral at about 11.30 am and return to the lay-by in Monks Risborough at approximately 8.30 pm. Please bring a picnic or enjoy the refreshments offered by the cloister café by the cathedral. The cost of the trip is £25 which includes the tour of the cathedral with cheques payable to Monks Risborough PCC. Wide and long and high and deep x3
Is the love of Jesus.

And we pray that we will know this love,
And we pray that we will grow in love,
And we pray that we will be filled up
With the Spirit of God!
