Prayer for the Week
O God, from whose own abundance all gifts and skills are lavishly bestowed, encourage us to use our talents as generously as you have allotted them, so that, being faithful to your purpose, we may become sharers in your glory. We make this prayer through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

Your prayers are asked in the coming week for:

  • Those suffering as a result of war and for all victims of the Ebola virus
  • Those being confirmed at next Sunday’s Deanery Confirmation service at St. Dunstan’s
  • Those suffering from anorexia or bulimia and those who seek to support them
  • Industrial tribunals and all who protect the rights of the worker.
  • Chiltern Railways, Arriva Buses, Taxi Drivers and others working in public transport.
  • Those who live in Park Meadow (PR) Studridge Lane (Sp)
  • Those who are in need in our parish:
  • And also further afield for:
    • Joan Male, Bill Male, Alastair, Matt Elworthy, Uncle Frank, Katy, Albert and Georgina Cole, Susan Parkin, Lynn Marshall
  • The recently departed:
  • Those whose anniversary of death falls at this time:
    • Harold Tapping, Hilda Sandell.

Please remember the charities that the parish supports:

Bereavement can be an isolating and painful experience accompanied by feelings of hopelessness and despair. Please contact Rose Williams. 274225 for further details.

St. Dunstan’s churchyard leaf sweep, maintenance and wild meadow planting
At 9.00 am on Saturday December 6th we are looking to clear the fallen leaves from the churchyard, to carry out some general tasks such as pruning trees and maintaining paths, and to plant the new hedge in the churchyard extension. We can provide some tools but if you can bring any yourself that would be extremely helpful. James

New Headteacher at Monks Risborough School

After ten years as Headteacher of Monks Risborough School Stephen Nunn has been appointed to be the next Principal of Hamilton Academy in High Wycombe. We wish him well as he takes up his new post. In turn we welcome Tom Baskerville as the new Headteacher here. Mr Baskerville is currently the Deputy Head at Burford School in Marlow. I am sure that both Stephen and Tom will great assets to their new school communities. James

Giving and Receipt of legacy
At the PCC meeting earlier this month it was decided to give an additional £500 to charity in light of the way that we have been blessed by God in our finances this year. The £500 will be sent to Walser’s Tanzania Charity to assist secondary school children in their education. A picture of some other children helped by this charity can be found on the notice board in the porch. Ten days later St. Dunstan’s received an incredibly generous legacy from the late Vera Stopp for just under £29,000. This will be a terrific boost in helping to fund major expenditure in 2015 such as the restoration of the windows above the high altar, the possible replacement of the boiler and/or treatment of the roof, and the completion of the churchyard extension. James
