Prayer for the Week
From our earliest days, O God, you call us by name.
Make our ears attentive to your voice, our spirits eager to respond, that, having heard you in Jesus your anointed one, we may draw others to be his disciples. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever. Amen.

Your prayers are asked in the coming week for:

  • Healing reconciliation and justice following the recent troubles in France and Belgium
  • Those who work in the National Health Service, especially in A & E departments
  • Churches Together in Risborough, Britain and Ireland, as part of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
  • Architects, surveyors and planners for a vision of a life enhancing environment for people to live and work in
  • St John’s C of E School, its pupils, staff, head and governors. The Windmill Playgroup

Lent Courses for 2015
Two courses are on offer this year. The first course is on the Apocrypha, the set of books that sits between the Old and New Testament in some Bibles.  This is a rare opportunity to look at the Apocrypha, which is often shrouded in mystery, under Rob’s experienced guidance.
There is the choice of four sessions on Wednesday mornings, from 10.30 – 12 noon, starting on 4th March at 76 Westmead, Monks Risborough or a one day workshop in the church hall on  Saturday 28th February from 10.00am—4.00pm. Drinks will be provided at the latter but please bring your own packed lunch.
There is a leaflet on the table giving further information. Please complete and return the tear off slip for this by Sunday February 15th to Rob or James.
The second course is based on ‘Spiritual Journeys’. This is being organised by Churches Together in Risborough and takes place on Tuesday evenings at Costa Coffee in Princes Risborough from 7.30 – 9.30 pm on the following dates with the following speakers: 03 March: Anne Harding and Celia Sparkes - Walking the route to Santiago in N Spain. 10 March: Ken and June Brazier- Mercy ships and our journey to Sierra Leone. 17 March: Rev Jim Taylor - A journey to Manila in the Philippines. 24 March: Esther Lever - An adventurous journey with God. James.

Silent Prayer Meeting, Monday February 2nd at 8pm:
We need silence to help us to get a proper perspective on our lives; to hear the still, small voice of God, and to refresh our inner being. All are welcome to these meetings of any faith or none. The meeting starts in the church hall with some simple relaxation exercises, a short passage from the Bible to reflect upon in the half hour of silence, followed by a time of sharing of our experiences if people wish. For further information please contact James.
