    for our country.

‘Open House’ – The Ten Commandments
Over the next months on a variety of evenings there will be an opportunity to take a fresh look at The Ten Commandments as part of the Pilgrim Course. By and large the commandments can be split in to two categories: the first ‘tablet’ deals with our obligations and relationship to God and the second ‘tablet’ deals with our obligations and relationships to other people. The first three meetings take place from 8.00pm to 9.30pm at the Rectory on Thursday May 11th; Monday June 19th and Monday July 17th. It’s not compulsory to attend every evening as the course has been designed so that people can ‘dip in and out’ as they please. Please do chat to me if you’re not sure as to whether this might be suitable for you or simply come along on the evening. James

Silent Prayer Meeting – Monday May 22nd
We need silence to help us to get a proper perspective on our lives; to hear the still, small voice of God, and to refresh our inner being. All are welcome to these meetings in the church hall of any faith or none. Each meeting lasts about 45 minutes to an hour. The meeting starts with some simple relaxation exercises, a short passage from the Bible to reflect upon in the half hour of silence, followed by a time of sharing of our experiences if people wish. For more information please contact James.

 Sustaining the Sacred Centre
As part of a national prayer initiative ‘thy kingdom come’ that runs from May 25th (Ascension Day) to June 4th (Pentecost) we hope to have a variety of prayer resources available for people to use. The first batch of these have been printed out and left by the table near the south door. There are versions for children and adults but as is often the case adults may prefer the one for children! James

Evening Talks at Owlswick
The next talk in this series will be given by Susanne Carr on Tuesday 30th May at 8 pm. Susanne regularly contributes articles to this Newsletter and is one of Britain’s leading art historians. She will talk about twenty of the nation's most important and loved paintings in the National Gallery. The event will be accompanied by light refreshments with a cost for the evening of £5 per person. Further details about future talks/events at Owlswick can be found in parish newsletter.

Pilgrimage to the Holy Land, 16th – 25th April 2018
Ann and I have booked on to a pilgrimage to the Holy Land organised by Lightline Pilgrimages. ‘Following in the footsteps of Jesus’ will be led by Revs. Alastair Wheeler and Christopher Durrant and will involve a three night stay in Galilee and a six night stay in Jerusalem. Alastair writes “It’s not a holiday – but we hope that it will be hugely enjoyable and stimulating as we try to imagine events of the part that have changed the world for ever.” For further information or if you wish to book please log on to www.lightline.org.uk or call 01992 576065 or look at the poster in the porch. James

A note to all those who shop in Waitrose, Aylesbury
Please can you use your green charity tokens to help 'Bucks Vision'. This is a charity that has given a great deal of help and assistance to people in the congregation with reading aids and supplied them at minimal cost (about 50% of retail). They are staffed by a group of young women who have endless patience and genuine good humour at all times. Thank you
