Prayer of the Week
God of the covenant, as the forty days of deluge swept away the world’s corruption and watered new beginnings of righteousness and life, so in the saving flood of baptism your people are washed clean and born again. Throughout these forty days, we beg you, unseal for us the wellspring of your grace, cleanse our hearts of all that is not holy, and cause your gift of life to flourish again. Grant this through Christ, our liberator from sin, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, holy and mighty God for ever and ever. Amen.

Your prayers are asked this week for:

  • The work of aid agencies around the world in the light of allegations regarding Oxfam
  • The victims of the recent school shooting in Florida
  • The various groups and individuals who use the church hall
  • Administrators in further education, for wisdom and discernment in allocating scarce resources.
  • Hearing dogs for deaf people
  • Peel Court (PR) Hampden Gate & Hampden Road (Sp)
  • Those who are in need in our parish:

More grass cutters required for the churchyard
St. Dunstan’s is very fortunate in having a team of people who help to keep the churchyard looking so neat and tidy. The time commitment is about two to three hours each fortnight during the growing season. If you would like to find out more about what’s involved please speak with James.

Churchwarden and Deanery Synod vacancy
After an invaluable four year stint as churchwarden Charlie Fairall is stepping down at the Annual Meeting on March 19th. We therefore need to find a suitable person to be the second churchwarden. The primary role of churchwardens is to be able to attend most of the 10 am services on a Sunday morning and at major festivals, and to have a concern for the church, its people and its buildings. Charlie is very willing to carry on helping out with practical and maintenance issues such as the church boiler and the lawnmowers so this will lighten the load. There is also a vacancy for the Deanery Synod which acts as a link between the local church and Diocese. The synod meets 3 times a year and means that you automatically become a member of St. Dunstan’s Church Council (PCC) which meets 8/9 times each year on a Monday evening. If you are interested in filling either of these roles please speak with James.
