Sunday 10th June

Second Sunday after Trinity

Let us come before God today, reminding ourselves of the divine power of good, wholeness and healing at work in Jesus. Let us also recognise and use to good purpose the power of the Holy Spirit within us.

10.00am Parish Communion

First Reading: Genesis 3 v8-15
Adam and Eve, previously unafraid of God, now have guilty consciences and hide themselves. When God confronts them with their sin the age of innocence is over. Nothing will be the same again.

Second Reading: 2 Corinthians 4 v13-ch 5 v1
Our outer bodily frame is being eroded on a daily basis but at the same time we are renewed inwardly by God’s Holy Spirit.

Gospel: Mark 3 v20 to end
Despite clear evidence that Jesus’ healing work originates from God, the scribes denounce it as the work of Satan. Jesus tells them that this is an unforgivable blasphemy against the Holy Spirit#
.
Hymns: 25, 216, 16
Psalm: 130
Communion: 705, 68, 938

11:30am Owlswick Holy Communion
Readings: Genesis 3 v 8-15, Mark 3 v20 to end

6.00pm ‘Songs of Praise’ with the Rt. Revd Dr Steven Croft, Bishop of Oxford

Prayer of the Week
God our redeemer, in Jesus, your promised Messiah, you crushed the power of Satan. Sustain your Church in the struggle against evil, that, hearing your word and doing your will, we may be fashioned into a household of true disciples who share in the victory of the cross. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever. Amen.

Your prayers are asked this week for:

  • An end to the plight of refugees crossing the Mediterranean Sea
  • The victims of the volcanic eruptions in Guatemala and Hawaii
  • Farmers, market gardeners, shop workers, fishing communities and all those who help us to put food on our tables
  • All those taking GCSE, A levels and other  exams
  • The mission, ministry and congregational life of the Methodist Church,  Princes Risborough
  • Walkers Road and Walnut Crescent (L) Cross Lane and Hinton Crossing (B)
