Second Reading Ephesians 1:11-23
Paul declares that Christians are chosen by God and destined as his saints for a glorious heavenly inheritance. He prays that the Spirit’s power will enable them to grow in hope and knowledge of Christ.

Gospel Luke 6:20-31
Jesus declares that the blessedness of those who serve him cannot be measured in earthly plenty and contentment. He calls his disciples to express his unconditional love, even towards their enemies.

3.00 pm 'Time to Remember' service
(See notices)
Prayer for the week
All-holy God, you call your people to holiness.
As we keep the festival of your saints, give us their meekness and poverty of spirit, a thirst for righteousness, and purity of heart.
May we share with them the richness of your kingdom and be clothed in the glory you bestow.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever.

Your prayers are asked this week for:
 the victims of the recent tsunami and volcanic eruption in Indonesia; those who are suffering in the outbreak of Cholera in Haiti; the victims of the floods in Pakistan still without food or shelter
 an appreciation of the value of our food and drink, and hearts that always give thanks for our daily bread.
 The various charities supported by our team churches.
 Those living in Whiteleaf and Whiteleaf Way (Monks Risborough) and Lacemakers Court (Princes Risborough).
 Those in need who are known in our parish
 and also further afield
 For the recently departed
 Those whose anniversary of death falls at this time
Please remember the charities that St Dunstan's supports, in particular this week:
Parents and Children Together (PACT), working to build and strengthen families in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and across the UK and internationally

If you are planning to come please bring a PASSPORT SIZED PHOTOGRAPH. You will need it during the course of the evening – unless you are really good at drawing a self portrait!

‘Living in Hope’
The course uses a DVD and group discussion to explore the Christian understanding of hope through themes such as death, resurrection and creation. The next sessions will be held on Thursday November 4th at the Willows, Mill Lane, Monday November 8th at the Rectory, Mill Lane and Monday November 22nd at The Camp, Little Kimble. All sessions start at 8 pm and finish at 9.30 pm. More details can be found in the October/November magazine. Please contact Sue Kemp suzannekemp@btconnect.com (275157) if you would like a course booklet (cost £3) to be ordered for you. It is not essential to come to all of the sessions. James

This will include the commissioning of The Revd Denise Critchell, vicar of Lacey Green, in her new role which involves visiting local shops and businesses as well as instigating Christian Arts Retreats. The service will be in the format of evening prayer combining the best of traditional and modern worship.

Remembrance Sunday, November 14th at 10 am
This service provides another time to remember those who have given and continue to give their lives in the service of others. The service at St. Dunstan’s includes the laying of wreaths, a roll call of those who have died and a two minute silence. This is followed by a further Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial on the corner of Mill Lane/Aylesbury Road at about 11.15 am. These acts of Remembrance are being held jointly with St. Peter’s Chapel, Owlswick

December/January Newsletter
The closing date for contributions to the next issue is Wednesday 10th November. Please send the information to John McKay by email (preferably) john@jamckay.demon.co.uk and David Kemp david@windleshaw.demon.co.uk. We expect another full issue so send early to avoid disappointment!

PLEA FOR HELP
After about 25 years - yes really! - Harry and Diana Mullens have decided to give up arranging for the distribution of the Newsletter from the beginning of 2011 and we are looking for a volunteer to take over this important church function. The work entails preparing the copies into bundles for the individual distributors, taking most of the bundles into church for church members to collect and distribute, and the remainder to local distributors who may not attend church. This operation occurs six times a year.
Please would anyone willing to consider taking on this work to contact David Kemp at Windleshaw, telephone 01844-344097 or email david@windleshaw.demon.co.uk. Thank you.
