Sunday 27th March 2011
Third Sunday of Lent

Jesus invited a Samaritan woman to enjoy living water and he continues to offer living water to us. Let us use our worship today to drink at God’s fountain and so quench our thirst.

Welcome to St Dunstan’s Church

If you are new to Monks Risborough or just visiting please introduce yourself to the Welcomers at the door who will be happy to tell you more about the church and its events.
The Junior Church (10 o’clock Club) meet in the Church Hall before coming into Church for the Communion.
Coffee and tea are served in the Church Hall immediately after the 10.00am service - all are welcome.

Prayer for the week
O God, living and true, look upon your people, whose dry and stony hearts are parched with thirst. Unseal the living water of your Spirit; let it become within us an ever-flowing spring, leaping up to eternal life. Thus may we worship you in spirit and in truth through Christ, our deliverance and hope, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, holy and mighty God for ever and ever.

Your prayers are asked this week for:
 the people of Japan in the wake of the tsunami and the concerns about nuclear contamination
 the Libyan people at this time of violence and unrest, and also the peoples of the Holy Land, Syria, Yemen and other Arab nations that they may come to live together peacefully in mutual trust and reconciliation.
 All who serve others by bringing joy, those who make us laugh and sing, all who make our day brighter and better
 Osteopaths, chiropractors and others involved in complementary therapies
 Residents of Well Lane (Princes Risborough), and Small Dean Lane (Saunderton).
 For the recently departed
◦ Sue Allam, Eddy Tranter, Ethel Seager and Peter Frith
 Those whose anniversary of death falls at this time particularly Michael Wright, Kathleen Haines, and Rosemary Westcombe
Please remember the charities that St Dunstan's supports, in particular this week:
Iain Rennie Hospice at Home, offering specialist and supportive care and advice for patients with cancer and other life threatening illnesses in their homes.

Situations Vacant
At the recent Annual Meeting Rosemary Woodward-Court and Sue Ingram were elected as churchwardens. At the meeting I stressed the need for jobs that had over time been assumed in to the role of churchwarden, to be shared out amongst a wide spectrum of church members, so that we do not become over reliant on a few people. So far many people have come forward to volunteer for various tasks which is terrific and much appreciated.
However three really important jobs remain to be filled:
The first is the unlocking/locking of the church which can be shared amongst a rota of people.
The second is the production of the weekly pew sheet which takes about an hour each week and requires basic computer skills.
The third (not connected with the role of a churchwarden) is the need to find two people to take up the spaces on the Deanery Synod.
If you are interested in helping out in any of these ways please can you let James, Rosemary or Sue know.
