Sunday 3rd July 2011
The 2nd Sunday after Trinity – Thomas the Apostle
Although, unlike St Thomas, we cannot have physical proof of Christ, in our worship today let us keep a sense of his presence here among us, according to his promise.

Welcome to St Dunstan’s Church

If you are new to Monks Risborough or just visiting please introduce yourself to the Welcomers at the door who will be happy to tell you more about the church and its events.

Coffee and tea are served in the Church Hall immediately after the 10.00am service - all are welcome.

Readings

First Reading Habakkuk 2 v 1 – 4
The prophet has been railing against the might of the enemy. He declares he will stand at his watchpost. The Lord tells him to write his vision plainly, because there is still a vision for the appointed time. It’s a matter of being persistent and not resorting to pride.

Gospel Reading John 20 v 24 - 29
The apostle Thomas doubts the disciples when they tell him they have seen the resurrected Christ. Jesus comes to him and he is convinced.

6.00 pm Choral Evensong

Readings: Job 42.1-6; 1 Peter 1.3-12
Hymns: 516, Psalm 139 vs. 1-13, 487, 315

Winchester Visit
On August 13th there is a trip to Winchester. We shall be having a guided tour of the Cathedral, which will include access to the Library to view the 12th Century Winchester Bible, and to the King James Bible Exhibition (celebrating its 400 year anniversary). We shall have the opportunity to attend Choral Evensong at 5.30pm. The cost of the visit will depend on the numbers but with a full coach will be in the region of £10-£15 without the cathedral visit and £15-£20 with the guided tour. If you would like to go, please let Rosemary know-344417 or sign up in the porch.

Do you enjoy cutting grass?
I receive numerous comments throughout the year about how beautiful the churchyard looks. We rely on a small but dwindling number of people to help cut and strim the grass. If you can spare a couple of hours a fortnight between March and November to help out in this way please can you let me know? The church has a variety of lawnmowers and strimmers that you can use. I look forward to hearing from you. James

Health Safety officer required
We need someone to assume a role that enables us to help ensure that the church premises are a safe place in which to worship and enjoy. No previous experience or knowledge of health and safety is required just a willingness to spend a little time highlighting potential hazards and seeing what corrective action (if any) might be taken. If you are interested in this role please have a chat with James
Double edition of the pew sheet
Please note that over the next few weeks and in to the summer holidays there will be some ‘double’ editions of the pew sheet. The first one of these is July 10th/17th. Please bear this in mind when submitting notices as space may be limited.
