Fifth Sunday of Lent - Passiontide
When Jesus went to dinner with the family at Bethany, Mary worshipped at his feet, prompting insights from Jesus. Let us so worship him today that we too receive spiritual insights.

First Reading Isaiah 43:16-21
Isaiah refers back to he first saving act of God when God brought the Israelites out of Egypt into the Promised Land, and reveals that God has now promised to do something new and amazing for his people.
Second Reading Philippians 3:4b-14
Paul states his Jewish credentials, but counts them as so much dross against his goal of striving to know Christ and the power of his resurrection.
Gospel Reading John 12:1-8
Mary of Bethany anoints Jesus’ feet with expensive perfume and wipes them on her hair, much to the discomfort of Judas Iscariot.
6:00pm Choral Evensong

Prayer for the Week
God of power, God of mercy, you bring forth springs in the wasteland and turn despair into hope. Look not upon the sins of our past, but lift from our hearts the failures that weigh us down, that we may find refreshment and life in Christ, our liberator from sin, who, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Sprit, holy and mighty God for ever and ever. Amen.

‘Open House’ at The Rectory, Mill Lane
Every six weeks or so people meet as part of an informal group to encourage people in their faith through friendship and by looking at topical issues. A short DVD is shown at the beginning of the evening to start the discussions off. The meetings are held on different evenings of the week over the year so that everyone has the opportunity to participate. The next meeting will be on Thursday March 21st at 8 pm to which everyone is welcome to come along to.
Christian Aid – Super Soup Lunch March 22nd
12.30 – 2.00pm. Three varieties of home made soup to choose from, a piece of crusty bread and tea/coffee. All for £4.00 and served in the hall. How can you refuse? See you there. Rosemary.
Passion Narrative – Director Required!
Many people will be aware that on the Sunday before Easter (March 24th) in place of the sermon we usually have a reading of the passion Narrative. The script is already written so it just requires someone to take on the role of co-ordinating a group of adults to speak out the various parts that make up the story. If you are interested in co-ordinating this please let James know. No previous acting experience required!
Easter Lilies in memory of a loved one
If you would like to take part please write legibly your name and the person(s) whom you wish to be remembered on the clipboard near the door. If you would like to make a donation please put the contribution into a blue gift aid envelope and write “Easter Lily” on the envelope, write your name & address on it if you are a taxpayer and put it in the wooden chest on the pillar or hand to Rev James Tomkins.
Easter Cross
To celebrate Easter Day we are making an Easter Cross out of flowers. At the 10 am service everyone is invited to bring flowers to stick in to and decorate the Cross that will have been made. A picture of such a Cross can be found on the notice board in the porch. Torie Collinge and Gwen Miles
Electoral Roll
Every six years the church electoral roll is completely revised. Forms will need to be completed and returned by March 31st to the electoral roll officer Mr Roger Timms, Nags Head House, Aylesbury Road, Monks Risborough, HP27 0JT. Forms are available in St. Dunstan’s and St. Peter’s.
Altar Server(s) required
We are very fortunate that Sheila is here for most weeks of the year but occasionally she is away and therefore it would be good to recruit one or more extra people to fulfil this role. If any adults or children would like to know more about what’s involved please speak with either James or Sheila.
Spring Concert, Saturday April 20th 7.00 pm
The musicians from the Trio D’Hiver are back by demand
playing a popular programme of classical music including pieces by Beethoven and Dvorak. Tickets are £8.00 (special deals apply) from Pat Kimber Tel 273942 or David Shuttle in Princes Risborough
