Sunday 25th September
Eighteenth Sunday after Trinity

We come together to worship God and give thanks for all the gifts we have received. As we pray together, let us think about God’s generosity and ask how we can be generous with what we have been given.

10.00am Parish Communion
Hymns: 737, 474, 428
Psalm: 91:9-end
Communion: 554, 77, 949

First Reading Jeremiah 32:1-3a & 6-15
During the siege God asks Jeremiah to buy a field. Although this seems an unwise financial decision, Jeremiah does what God asks.

Second Reading 1 Timothy 6:6-19
We brought nothing into the world, and can take nothing out of it. All that we have is a gift from God. We should be generous with what we have been given.

Gospel Luke 16:19-end
Jesus tells the disciples the story of the rich man and Lazarus.

3.00pm Wedding

6.00pm Owlswick Harvest Festival Evensong
(see notices)

Readings: Deuteronomy 26 v 1-11, John 6 v 25-35
Hymns: 259, Psalm 100, 265, 261, 262

Prayer of the Week
O God of justice, hear our cry and save us. Make us heed your word to the prophets; rouse us to the demand of the Gospel and impel us to carry it out. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever. Amen.

Your prayers are asked for:

  • And end to the hostilities and suffering in Syria, Yemen and other troubled parts of the world
  • Local members of parliament and those who support their work
  • All who seek to express their spirituality in wonder at God's creation
  • Speen CE First School, its pupils, staff, head and governors.
  • Sawmill Road (L) Dairymeade (Sp)
  • Those who are in need in our parish:
