Prayer for the week
God of compassion, whose Son Jesus Christ, the child of Mary, shared the life of a home in Nazareth, and on the cross drew the whole human family to himself: strengthen us in our daily living that in joy and in sorrow we may know the power of your presence to bind together and to heal; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Your prayers are asked in the coming week for:

  • The world: for places where there is war or unrest, and for their people as they try to live their lives alongside grief, displacement or hunger.
  • All mothers and carers; all families where there are children or young people missing.
  • Honesty and integrity in the world of banking and finance
  • The mission, ministry and congregational life of The Baptist Chapel in Speen
  • Wheelwright Road (L) Perry Lane (B)
  • Those who are in need in our parish:
  • And also further afield for:
    • Joan Male, Bill Male, Alastair, Uncle Frank, Katy, Albert and Georgina Cole, Gillian Brady
  • The recently departed: Mike Cobley
  • Those whose anniversary of death falls at this time:
    • Agnes Bowell, Alan Laken, Eddy Tranter, John Clegg, Mark Russell, Doris Gomme, Tom Kingham, Helen Keeping, John McMullan, Minnie Greig

Please remember the charities that the parish supports:
Anorexia and Bulimia Care (ABC) www.anorexiabulimiacare.org.uk  provides on-going care, emotional support and practical guidance for anyone affected by eating disorders.

Worship Group Update

Work is currently being undertaken to update the booklet for the All Age Family Service and a new mass setting in addition to the existing Addington setting is being considered for possible introduction later this year. You can listen to this on http://www.culvermusic.com/trinity-mass.html. If you have any comments please let James know.

Lent 2015
In addition to the course on the Apocrypha in the church hall there is an evening of ‘Spiritual Journeys’ being organised by Churches Together in Risborough. This takes place on Tuesday evenings in March at Costa Coffee in Princes Risborough from 7.30 – 9.30 pm. Further details can be found on the notice board. James.

Silent Prayer Meeting, Monday March 16th at 8pm:
We need silence to help us to get a proper perspective on our lives; to hear the still, small voice of God, and to refresh our inner being. All are welcome to these meetings of any faith or none. The meeting starts in the church hall with some simple relaxation exercises, a short passage from the Bible to reflect upon in the half hour of silence, followed by a time of sharing of our experiences if people wish. For further information please contact James

A French Concert
for All Ages (8 – 88+)!
Featuring local musicians Anna Markland and Phil Crookes performing at St. Dunstan’s on March 28th at 6.30 pm with music to include Poulenc’s Babar the Elephant (with guest narrator!), extracts from Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite for piano duet, Faure’s Dolly Suite and other pieces. Light refreshments will be available and a raffle will be held. Tickets are available (£6/adult and £1/child 18 and under) from Pat Kimber 01844 273942 or The Elephant’s Trunk.

‘Open House’, Thursday March 19th at 8pm at the Rectory
Under the umbrella of “The Jesus lifestyle” we shall continue to look at a DVD about the radical teaching found in the Sermon on the Mount and apply it to the 21st century. The DVD last approximately 35 minutes and leaves plenty of time for discussion at the end. Everyone is welcome. James

Revised Church Electoral Roll
The electoral roll seeks to reflect church membership as closely as possible and provides a general barometer of the vibrancy of the worshipping community. If you are not currently on the electoral roll (copy in the porch) please complete and return an electoral roll form by March 31st to the electoral roll officer: Mr Roger Timms, Nags Head House, Aylesbury Road, Monks Risborough,  HP27 0JT. Forms are available on the table in the church, in the porch and from Roger.

Vacancies on the PCC and Deanery Synod
There will be two vacancies on the church council (PCC) and one on the Deanery Synod that need to be filled at the Annual Meetings on Monday April 27th. If you are interested in the decision making process and day to day running of St. Dunstan’s or St. Peter’s, have an interest in the wider workings of the Church and you have been on the electoral roll for six months, please let James know. The PCC meets nine times a year on Monday evening and the Deanery Synod three times per year.

Save the dates!
I have managed to arrange discounted prices for a Pilgrims Tour of Westminster Abbey on Wednesday July 15th and a trip to Canterbury Cathedral on Wednesday August 5th. More details to follow in the April/May newsletter. James

Team Prayer Diary
The 2015 version of the Risborough Team Prayer Diary is now available from the table near to the main entrance door of the church. The diary contains all of the street names in the local area as well as various groups, clubs, organisations, businesses etc. Please take a free copy. James

Easter Lilies in Memory of a Loved One
Once again there is the opportunity for parishioners to donate the cost of an Easter lily as part of an arrangement in memory of a loved one. If you would like to take part, please write your name and the person(s) whom you wish to remember, on the list in the Church or contact Jenny Masterton-Smith on 01844 273538 or Gwen Miles 01844 345230. Rocking Horse For Sale
I have a wonderful rocking horse who needs a new home.
I was going to give it to my neighbour for their little girl, but they do not have the room for it. If anyone would like it or would like to view it please contact myself or Karen on 01844 274898. If we cannot take your call please leave a message and contact details so we can get back to you. Thank you.  Paula Salmon and Karen Johnson
