Prayer of the week
God, our judge and saviour, teach us to be open to your truth
and to trust in your love, that we may live each day with confidence in the salvation which is given through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Your prayers are asked in the coming weeks for:

  • The people of Syria and all those parts of the world suffering from conflict and violence:
  • The leaders of the nations that they may turn from the ways of war and seek the paths of peace.
  • All refugees and economic migrants that we may respond with generosity and recognise our common humanity.
  • Local producers of food that they may be supported by the community and find a market for their food
  • Pre-school education and Play groups. Their children, parents and staff.
  • Bennells Close (Meadle) Burton Lane (MR) Bar Lane (L) Bardolphs Close (PR)
  • Those who are in need in our parish:
  • And also further afield for:
    • Joan Male, Bill Male, Alastair, Uncle Frank, Anne Clark, Katy, Georgina Cole, Robert, baby Molly
  • The recently departed: Sally Gordon
  • Those whose anniversary of death falls at this time:

Proposed parking restrictions in Mill Lane
Thank you to everyone who expressed their views regarding proposals to change parking arrangements within and around Princes Risborough which included no waiting restrictions in part of Mill Lane that would have been very damaging to the life of St. Dunstan’s and the local community. The proposals to include a single yellow line no waiting restriction between 10am and 11am have now been dropped and the double yellow lines at junctions kept. This should enable local residents easier access on to Mill Lane at busy times without having a negative impact on everyday church and community activities. The revised proposals can be found at http://www.transportforbucks.net/Roadworks-Centre/Schemes-and-projects/Our-schemes-and-projects/Princes-Risborough-amendments-to-parking.aspx and a copy is also on the noticeboard in the church porch. Thank you again for your support. James

Upgrading of Heating and Installation of New Boiler
The new boiler and new radiators have been successfully installed. We hope you notice the difference which should result in more instant and evenly spread heat throughout the church building. There will be a few weeks during which we will need to fine tune the system and the boiler settings, think about redecorating various parts of the church and the existing radiators, as well as slightly altering the position of some of the pews. If you have any comments please let James, Charlie or Susanne know, especially if you are too cold or too hot!

The Confirmation service itself will be held at Holy Trinity Church, Bledlow on Sunday November 1st at 6pm. If you would like to consider being confirmed please contact James. Confirmation is often seen as the entry point to receive Holy Communion as a person ‘confirms’ the promises made on their behalf at their Baptism.

We meet in the church hall on the third Wednesday of the month at 2.30 pm. The next meeting is Wednesday 21st October. All welcome!

Time to Remember Service (Sunday November 1st, 3pm)
This service contains well-known hymns and prayers as we cherish the memories of those we love but see no longer. The names of individuals whom we wish to remember will be read out and there will be refreshments at the end of the service. James

Risborough in Bloom
We are pleased to be advised that Risborough was awarded two Silver Awards under the Town and Parks category in the regional Britain in Bloom Awards. The judges were extremely impressed with what they saw considering the Town only had two months to prepare! Thanks for all involved (Monks Risborough Horticultural Society, St. Dunstan's Church, Monks Risborough Primary School, Bucks Free Press) and we are looking forward to making our entry for 2016 bigger & better. If you would like to be part of Risborough in Bloom, please do contact us or if you have any ideas that you would like us to consider, we would love to hear from you! A prayer for the refugee crisis
God of compassion, whose own son experienced life as a refugee, we remember those fleeing from danger, hungry and afraid, with nowhere to call home. God, we ask for their warmth, security, food and peace.
God of hope, we thank you for those who are working to bring relief and comfort to those displaced, showing glimpses of grace in the darkness of despair. God, give them strength.

God of justice, guide the nations and the leaders of the world towards peace, stir hearts to be generous and compassionate. God, help us to play our part in bringing about the change that we want to see. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.
